In light of recent oil and gas pipeline issues in the region, it is especially important for Kallari to be energy and fuel independent. Rather than relying on natural gas for cooking, tempering, and space heating (the conventional fuel), we propose a method for Kallari to use all renewable biomass fuel -- 100% generated on the factory site.
We reserved three acres of our site for bamboo forest, much of which will be used as biomass to produce bamboo charcoal to fuel and heat the factory. The fuel is carbon-neutral since the plant sequesters as much carbon during its lifetime as it releases when burned. |
