We felt that the inspiration for our design for Kallari should come from Kallari's members themselves -- the Kichwa. Traditional Kichwa culture has been slowly losing ground to modern ways of life in the region, but Kallari's members are passionate about preserving their heritage.
Throughout our design process, we studied traditional Kichwa building forms and pondered ways they could be adapted to a global spotlight, in a different climate zone. Our resulting factory design reflects a blend of native forms and new knowledge of technology and sustainable design. |
